Black Lives Matter Sudbury
About Us
Black Lives Matter Sudbury (BLMS), founded in 2020, is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to advocating for the rights and empowerment of Black communities in the Greater Sudbury Area and beyond.
We are a Black-led coalition of educators, students, activists, artists, and everything in between. Grounded in principles of solidarity and justice, we work in relationship with Indigenous communities and movements.
We are governed by a working board of Black individuals who guide our mission and ensure that our work remains centred in the lived experiences and needs of our communities.
Our work is rooted in solidarity, community care, and the pursuit of justice, with a vision of a world where Black people can live freely and fully.
We acknowledge that our membership is situated on N’Swakamok, later known as Sudbury, on the traditional lands of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and the Wahnapitae First Nation, in the Robinson-Huron Treaty territory.
